Today is International Mother Language Day. A day to celebrate, promote and protect our first languages, and cultural and linguistic diversity across Canada and the world. Take some time today to learn and explore: maybe research the history of a language that interests you, learn to say hello to a friend in their mother tongue, check out a new music artist or practice some Anishinaabemowin with Shawn in the Andaayang. Language is all around us and there is so much to celebrate!
Do you like volleyball? Do you want volunteer hours? Do you like pizza? If you answered yes to all 3 of those questions, come see Mr. Wheelan in room 313 at the start of lunch. OSS will be hosting the OPP coed volleyball tournament February23rd and 24th and need volunteers to help with score keeping.
Mino Ghizheb OSS, just a reminder that today during the lunch hour is the Andaayang Drum program in room 222. Come out and learn traditional drumming. All are welcome.
The Coldest Night of the Year walk is on February 24th! Join the OSS team to support the Lighthouse by scanning the QR codes around the school. Donate to the Lighthouse and join the team when we walk for this great cause!
Over the weekend the OSS Improv Team traveled to the GTA to compete in the regional tournament with the Canadian Improv Games. They left it all on the stage, taking great risks and getting lots of laughs! They finished their competitive season with third place in the semi-final round. They should be very proud of their efforts.
This is a reminder that the Improv Team will be meeting today at lunch in the drama room.
