All of the grade 10 Civics classes this year have participated in the YPI (Youth Philanthropy Initiative) program which involves researching a local social service charity and then creating a presentation teaching their class mates about the charity and the services they provide to the community. The 4 strongest presentations are then selected to compete in front of their peers and a panel of judges for the opportunity to receive a $5000 grant for their charity. Today, during the period after lunch, all grade 10 classes will attend the assembly to decide the winner. Classes can proceed directly to the cafeteria after taking attendance. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about local charities and show how active citizenship can have a direct benefit to the community.
Congrats to the ultimate frisbee team on their playoff win against twin lakes after school yesterday. Everyone played amazing and many of the things we have been working on as a team this season all fell into place in last night's game! We are off to the SCAA tournament this Friday. Players, please check the google classroom for important information surrounding Friday.
