Join Mary, Bert and the Banks family as they fly kites, take magical walks in the park and dance on the rooftops in this full-length Broadway musical. There will be a school buy-in to see the show THIS THURSDAY, April 25th during periods 4 & 5. Buy-in tickets are $10 and are on sale in the Hawk Shop at lunch! Cash or debit accepted.
Next week is the National Day for Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, also known as Red Dress Day. We will be holding a presentation with community members and Elders to raise awareness and honour those who have been lost. For the next week on the announcements, we are going to share some details about why we honour Indigenous Women and Girls.
Because of inadequate investigations and reporting, there are estimates of over 4 thousand Indigenous women and girls who have gone missing or been murdered since the 1970s; in comparison to the statistics of the general Canadian population, this would mean over 60 thousand women have been lost. Because investigations are inconsistent, if they happen at all, official data is unclear, promoting the idea that Indigenous women and girls do not matter. Our intent is to change this view and show that Indigenous women and girls do matter and that action must be taken.

Just a reminder that we have lots of new Scholarships and Bursaries for you to check out in the Guidance Office!
If you live on a farm, or your parents or grand-parents lived on a farm, then you might qualify for the Hensall Farm CO-OP Store Scholarship.
We also still have copies of the April issue of The Scholarship Report and The Trades Report which gives you access to hundreds of potential post-secondary financial opportunities.
Other new scholarships include the Skid Watson Orillia YMCA scholarship, The Barrie May Court Scholarship, and the Coldwater Lion’s Club Bursary.
HUGS is meeting today at lunch in room 332. HUGS is a group dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students and allies. All are welcome. Looking forward to seeing you today at lunch in room 332.

Dance team meets today (Monday) at lunch in room 118 - attendance is mandatory as this is our only practice this week.
The date to begin your OSAP application is fast approaching. Please go to the OSAP website and run through the registration procedure so that you are ready to go in mid-May when it opens up.
