Calling all Fitness Club people. Today is the day! Come out at the start of lunch to the Fitness Centre to grab permission forms and information from Mr. P and Mr. I.

Please dismiss members of the Jr Boys football team an noon today for their game against Nantyr.

Yesterday, the junior girls flag football team opened the season with a 12-6 win over Maple Ridge.  Great defence and long sustained drives allowed the Nighthawks to dominate the first half with Amber L. hitting Hollie T. and Mya N. for touchdowns. With Maple Ridge mounting a comeback in the second half, Lyla P. turned the game with a great interception and Capri M. helped the ground game take over to finish off the game.

The Junior boys volleyball team played their first season game yesterday, against Bear Creek. A slow start, as the players got comfortable with their new members and warmed-up, losing the first set 25-16. With solid blocks from our middles, great dives from defense and striking attacks — our Nighthawks took the 2nd set. The rest of the game was action-packed as we split the sets equally.
Though we had tremendous hustle and efforts, we fell short on the last set.

Rise up Nighthawks and come cheer on the team, at their next home game Tuesday!

A huge congratulations is in order for grade 12 Comm Tech student, Jamie W.! Last night at the Central Ontario Youth Short Film Festival in Barrie, Jamie's film dot premiered on the big screen after it was nominated in the narrative category. Three of the festival's organizers personally approached Jamie to say how much they loved the film. Congratulations, Jamie W.

Teachers, Nighthawk TV has released their first episode of the school year TODAY! Please check your inboxes for the link from Ms. Newman. This is a longer episode, but the Comm Tech class would really appreciate it if you could set aside the last 15 minutes of class to show this to your period 1 classes today. Students, if you miss an episode, the QR code will be on the foyer TV or you can subscribe to our YouTube channel. You won't want to miss it!

Yesterday the Sr. Girls Flag Football team played an exciting back and forth exhibition match with Maple Ridge.

After getting into some early team trouble the defense bailed us out with a defiant stop at our own 3 yard line.  Ava H. then lead our offence on an impressive 97-yard touchdown drive to put us up 7 to nothing.

Some mid game mistakes put us in a 13 - 6 hole.  But through some very strong defensive play and an interception by Emma H. our offence was given a chance to find their groove again.  The girls finished the game with a strong collective 21 - 13 victory.

A big congrats to the OSS Cross-Country Running Team for an amazing first race in Wasaga. They finished strong including Colton S. who placed 6th out of nearly fifty runners in the Novice Boys division. Way to go Team! See you at practice next week as we gear up for our next race on Thursday in Barrie.

Shout out to Angelica De La Riva Vasquez who scored all 3 of our touchdowns through the air.  She was unstoppable!!!  Next action Tuesday versus Collingwood.
