Morning Announcements for May 8, 2026
Posted on 05/08/2026

The D&D club is welcome to meet today in room 308. Mr. Flood humbly apologizes to the club for his absences the past two Thursdays. He rolls a natural 20 persuasion check on his apology, and you all forgive him. See you at lunch!

Congrats to the Track and Field team who competed in the Zone Qualifier yesterday at St Theresa's in Midland.  Despite the cold and wicked headwind, we had 45 athletes qualify for the GBSSA championships next Thursday at York University. Congrats to all runners, jumpers and throwers in a successful meet.  The team is reminded to check Google Classroom over the weekend for updates and practice schedules for next week.

Math Hawks will be meeting today at lunch in Room 304 to get ready for our board wide competition.  If you are unable to make it please see Mrs. Wylie.

Hey OSS! Students for Change is hosting a hygiene drive for The Green Haven's Womens' Shelter! Globally, around 500 million women and girls don't have access to, or lack adequate feminine hygiene products.  Until next week Friday, please bring any hygiene items to the table in the foyer. Hygiene items could include feminine hygiene products, hair products, soap, dental hygiene products, etc.  Together let's make positive change for women in Orillia!

Over the past month and a half, a new student resource has been in the works, this resource is called “The Community Closet” which will allow every student access to clothing of all sizes, hygiene products, and food items. We are very excited to announce that this resource will be available for student access Monday May 11th. If you are looking for access to this room, please get in touch with a trusted staff member or scan one of the confidential QR codes posted around the school in order for a teacher to connect with you.

This Link Crew Mesage is for current Grade 10s and 11s!

It is that time of year where you can apply to be an OSS Link Leader! This is the amazing leadership group that supports our grade 9s as they transition to high school.

So if you are looking to develop your leadersship skills, meet other great OSS leaders, get some volunteer hours while adding more great memories to your high school career-this might be your thing!

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Make sure you talk to 2 staff members  that will support your application.
  2. Find the posters around the school and scan the QR code or come to Guidance to scan the code.
  3. Fill out the application form and follow the instructions!

Applications will only be accepted over the next couple of weeks! So get your application in!
