Every year, three students are honoured from each high school in Simcoe County at the Evening of Excellence. These students are selected by their teachers as having made the most of their high school experience. Congratulations to Kyra D., Isis R., and Denys R. for being this year's OSS honourees. You are remarkable individuals!
There will be a Students for Change meeting today at lunch in Room 215. If you are interested in making a positive impact in your school and community come on out. New members are always welcome!
Hey OSS! Students for Change is hosting a hygiene drive for The Green Haven's Womens' Shelter! Globally, around 500 million women and girls don't have access to, or lack adequate feminine hygiene products. Starting on Monday, May 4th please bring any hygiene items to the table in the foyer. Hygiene items could include feminine hygiene products, hair products, soap, dental hygiene products, etc. Together let's make positive change for women in Orillia!
Yesterday, the girls slo pitch team opened the regular season with a double header in Barrie. Despite 2 home runs and 6 RBIs from Emersyn McLaughlin, the Notty Pines bats were too much to handle in game 1. In the second game, the Nighthawks overcame a slow start to record a 14-6 win led by the bats of Molly B., Maya N. and Addi K. with great pitching from Makayla H. and Paige B.
Can you bump? Can you set? Can you not get hit in the face with a volleyball? Then come on down to the gym at lunch for volleyball intramurals! Remember, you need your safety forms signed and to have purchase a student id card. So, bring your running shoes, your winning attitude, and all your friends down to the gym today!
GSA is meeting today at lunch in room 332. Come get the update about Pride Prom happening on June 12. Everyone is welcome.
The OSS Model UN team traveled to the Education Centre last week to compete in the Annual Model UN Simulation. We competed short one delegate, and with it being a first-time experience for almost every member. As such, we did not take home the trophy this year, but have a solid core of students who could potentially come back next year and compete for a top-level score.
Notable individual performances included Emily Y., who as our Proposal Sponsor achieved a perfect score on her General Assembly speech and Regional Debate, and Ridhima A., who as a first-time competitor, finished 3rd overall out of 118 competitors. Most importantly, the whole team competed with class, and were excellent representatives of OSS.
Prom Tickets are now on sale! Prom is Friday May 29th from 7-10 at Hawkridge Gold Club. Get your tickets for $60 on school cash online. Guest forms are also available in the main office.
