Morning Announcements for February 19, 2026
Posted on 02/19/2026

Good morning book club members! Please come to room 311 today at lunch to see Mrs Williamson regarding the future of book club. The meeting will be short - please attend if you have any interest in continuing book club for semester 2!

Just a reminder to this seasons track captains that there will be a meeting in 337 at the start of lunch.

Today we celebrate Rosa Parks, known as the 'mother of the freedom movement,' whose quiet strength started the Montgomery Bus Boycott. She is best known for her 1955 refusal to surrender her seat, in the front of the bus to accommodate white riders. Parks and other boycott leaders faced harassment, ostracization, and various legal obstacles. The boycott lasted for 381 days, finally concluding after segregation on buses was deemed unconstitutional.

Did you know that about 25,000 to 35,000 people are sleeping outside or without permanent shelter each night? Together, we can make a difference! Students for change is holding a winter clothing drive, and participating in coldest night of the year for the light house! Please consider donating to the lighthouse for the coldest night of the year using the QR code on the poster in the foyer, or donating some warm winter clothes! Thank you OSS!

Gardening Club will be meeting today (Thursday) at lunch in room 303 instead of Friday this week. New members are always welcome.

The OSS Mental Health Club meets in room 227 today at lunch. See you there!
