Human trafficking is a major issue in Orillia and in Simcoe County. Human trafficking targets young adults providing them with promises in exchange for often, illegal activities. Traffickers control their victims in many ways, including psychological manipulation, emotional abuse, lies, addiction, threats, violence, isolation, and taking control of their lives. Canada has 5000 police reported cases of human trafficking but it is known that this is only a small percentage of people affected by human trafficking. Know the signs, such as branding or tattoos, social isolation, and unexplained bruises and call 911 if you believe that someone needs help.

To all OSS athletes, the athletic banquet is this Thursday June 11th. Tickets will be sold for just $2 in the main foyer at lunch today until Thursday, so bring a toonie! Theo's dinner will be provided. Again, this is for anyone who has played for any OSS sports team this year.

Attention Nighthawks, this is a very important message from the yearbook class.
The final yearbook for OSS has arrived in the building. For those who have pre-ordered one, here is how you get your hands on it…you go to class. We have our distribution list organized by your classes, we will find you.
If you are in co-op and reading this online because you’re not in school to hear the announcements, your yearbook will be with your co-op teachers when you come for your culminating days.
If you have a spare, we will try to track you down in other classes, or as a last resort you may be paged to the office.
If you did not pre-order one but still would like to get one of these rare treasures, we were able to order a couple of extra boxes. Once we distribute the pre-ordered books, there will be an announcement explaining how to get your hands on a 2026 Yearbook.
These will be first come, first served, so make sure you’ve either got $45 cash, or a cheque for $45 made out to Orillia Secondary School to carry around starting tomorrow. We will make another announcement once they are sold out.
So, to recap, go to class to get the yearbook you ordered, listen to the announcements to find out where to buy your yearbook, and do not go asking in the office because they will refer you to the announcements or they will direct you to speak to Mr. Newman. He will direct you to the June 9th and 10th announcements.
