Morning Announcements for May 21, 2026
Posted on 05/21/2026

This evening, our OSS Music students will be showcased at our annual Spring Concert.  Come and hear the excellent performances of the Junior Concert Band, Intermediate Stage Band, Senior Jazz Band Class, Choir, Rock Band and the national-award-winning Senior Concert Band and Hawks Jazz.  It will be a magical evening of community and musicianship.  The concert begins at 7pm in the cafetorium.  We hope to see you there!

The Nighthawks Ultimate team travelled to Innisdale yesterday to take on Bear Creek in their opening match. Despite the harsh winds, the team pushed forward with quick, coordinated attacks. It was a tight battle from start to finish, but strong defensive play and smart teamwork helped the Nighthawks hold onto a one‑point lead in the final minutes to secure the win.

In the second game, the Nighthawks faced the tough Innisdale Invaders. It was another thrilling matchup filled with a highlight‑reel diving catch and several clutch defensive saves near our own end zone. With five minutes remaining, the Hawks were up by one, but the Invaders managed to score and tie the game. The last minute was intense, but the Nighthawks ultimately came up just short.

Still, the effort, teamwork, and determination shown by every player were outstanding. What a day of Ultimate.

Go Nighthawks Go!

The boys rugby team continued their season yesterday with 2 home games vs Stayner and Twin Lakes. The boys were able to handle the scrappy Stayner team and used some strong support play to earn a 32-27 victory.  OSS then followed it up with a 29-12 win over Twin with a number of new players making valuable contributions.  Final season games are next Wednesday at Twin Lakes.  Go Nighthawks.

Congratulations to our 3 Euclid contest writers:  Kartik C., Abbygail G., and Denys R.  They combined to give OSS the highest score in North Simcoe and Muskoka.  A special mention goes out to Abby who came 8th overall out of all of Simcoe County and Muskoka!

The OSS Dance Recital is happening on Tuesday, June 2nd!  Tickets will be available at the door for the evening show.

Students can also purchase a $5 buy‑in ticket to attend the preview performance on Tuesday, May 26th during last period. Buy‑in tickets will be sold at lunch in the main foyer.

There was a grade 12 student named Tom

Who delayed buying his ticket for Prom

The tickets are sold out, said the office with dread

Tom’s heart sank, his face turned red

As he tried to explain his voice filled with plea

I thought I had time, it slipped away from me

I didn’t know anything about it said Tom

The ladies in the office, said no Tom you’re wrong!

There were emails, and voicemails

Posters and songs, announcements in classes, reminders all along.

So please grade 12 students hear our song

Don’t delay, get your ticket and don’t be a Tom
