Morning Announcements for October 16, 2025
Posted on 10/16/2025

Hey OSS!  Tomorrow, let's show our support for our Toronto Blue Jays as they go into game 5 of the American League Championship Series by wearing your Blue Jays gear.  Don't have any?  Wear something blue!  Go Jays Go!!

Yesterday the Nighthawks traveled to Maple Ridge to face the Ravens. The Girls battled hard in the paint, with stellar defense holding the Ravens to one of their lowest scoring games. The opportunities to score for the Nighthawks were falling short. Great help side teamwork was the success for the  Nighthawks. Good luck in the Barrie Showdown tomorrow!

Could all available Students for Change members please meet in the front foyer immediately after these announcements?

Hey Nighthawks! Did you know that one of the main uses of Chat GPT and other AI platforms is people seeking mental health information and supports?

When seeking out mental health information, advice, and especially counselling it's important to consider the reputability and training of the company or person providing the advice. In the case of folks asking AI chat bots for mental health advice and support, we are seeing a big uptick in negative mental health outcomes and even psychosis related to AI chat bots mental health advice because AI doesn't yet understand the complexities of mental health.

If you are seeking mental health supports reach out to your guidance counsellor or vice principal, or scan of the QR code posters for Social Work appointments. And always remember that calling 988 is a 24/7 free and confidential support when you are in crisis.

Reminder that the mental health club is meeting today at lunch in room 227! See you there!

The Sr Boys Rugby Sevens team had a strong showing yesterday earning 2 victories out of 4 games, including a 21-0 shutout over Stayner and an impressive 31-10 win over Barrie North. the Nighthawks had numerous sequences of dynamic play and ball movement that lead to some quality scores. Top try scorers for the day were Calder F. and Taylor C. with 4 tries each. Reid W. and Bennett L. also scored.  Next action is at Stayer next Wednesday.  Go Nighthawks!

Book Club - we meet today at lunch in room 311. Let's chat about what you've read so far in The Cure for Drowning, or you can stop by to pick up a copy if you haven't had a chance to start yet (it's never too late to start reading!). See you at lunch, readers!
