On Monday, the Nighthawk girls' hockey team faced off in a rematch against the Bear Creek Kodiaks. Both teams came out looking for the win, and the Nighthawk girls were down by one after a difficult first period. The Nighthawks re-grouped in the second period, keeping a strong offensive line and keeping the play in the Kodiak's end. After a scramble in front of the Kodiak's net, the first Nighthawk goal was buried by assistant captain, Maddy T. to tie the game. Keeping up the momentum into the third, the Nighthawks came out strong defensively shutting out the Kodiaks with miraculous saves from goal tender Irelyn Mitchell. On a forward rush, Amy B. scored her first goal of the season, quickly followed by another goal from Isabella C., bringing the score to 3-1 Nighthawks. Despite aggressive play from the Kodiaks, the Nighthawks kept their heads high and took their first win of the season. Congratulations Nighthawks and good luck on your game today against Nantyr Shores.
