Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics
Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics
All students working toward a credit in Grade 9 Academic or
Applied Mathematics are required to participate. These tests evaluate
how well students are meeting the curriculum expectations of the Grade 9
Academic or Applied Mathematics courses from The Ontario Curriculum.
Grade 10 OSSLT
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
In Grade 10, students take the Ontario Secondary School
Literacy Test, which measures whether or not they are meeting the
minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade
9.
Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the 32
requirements students must meet to earn an Ontario Secondary School
Diploma. The secondary school literacy requirement is described in the
Ministry of Education’s Ontario Schools, Kindergarten to Grade 12: Policy and Program Requirements, 2011.
March 25, 2019
This is a reminder that your child is scheduled to
write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test on Wednesday March 27th,
2019 beginning at 8am that day at Orillia Secondary School. This test is significant
as all secondary students in Ontario must successfully complete the literacy
requirement to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. For those
students writing the test, transportation to and from school will remain the
same. That said, we encourage students to be out at their bus stop
a few minutes earlier as the buses will run a bit faster that morning as they
are collecting fewer students. We encourage everyone to please be at the
school prior to 8am to get ready to write the OSSLT. Students are encouraged to
look on the student lists in the forum to determine the classroom where they
will write the literacy test. In the event of bus cancellations due to
inclement weather, students are still encouraged to come to Orillia Secondary,
when possible, as they will have the opportunity to write the
OSSLT. Once the literacy test is complete, modified classes will
occur in the afternoon and all students at Orillia Secondary are encouraged to
attend these afternoon classes. If you or your child have any
questions, please contact the vice principal, David Brooks.
