The Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française (DELF)

The Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) is a diploma issued by the French Ministry for National Education that certifies a learner’s proficiency in French. These evaluations are intended for those whose first language is not French. DELF diplomas are recognized around the world. The DELF Canada Centre reports that approximately 65,0000 Canadians have written the exam since 2009. In 2019, DELF examinations were available in 175 countries.

In recent years, the SCDSB has offered Grade 12 FSL students an opportunity to challenge the DELF exam in the spring of the year. The learners, with the support of their teachers, will self-select which CEFR level (A2, B1, B2) to challenge. The DELF exam assesses the learner’s French proficiency in listening comprehension, reading comprehension, spoken production and written production.

Spring 2020 DELF exam dates cancelled due to Covid 19.
