Any boys rugby players interested in playing fall 7's rugby come to a meeting at the start of lunch today in room 125. See Mr. Loney for details.
Today is the day that any junior or senior boys who wish to try out for the football teams next year can get an early start and pick up their equipment on Wednesday after school starting at 2:30. No experience is necessary.
Yesterday after school the sporting event of the year took place that saw the staff and student Ultimate Frisbee teams square off in a heated match. The student team came in as the big underdogs as the staff team was heavily favoured to win the game by a blowout. Well believe it or not, the student team did have a few tricks up their sleeve and lets just say the wind helped them immensely and the game ended in a 6-6 TIE! We will have to wait until next year's game to award bragging rights. Thank you to all the staff and students who came out to play and to watch, until next year!
For the past 5 years, all grade 10 Civics students at OSS have participated in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative project where they research local social service charities and create class presentations on them with the top selections eligible to have their charity receive a $5,000 grant. This year, the two winners that will split the grant are Cacia Laughlin for the Empower Simcoe Foundation and the group of Chris Hutton, Jason Shearer, and Tessa Smith for the Green Haven Shelter for Women. Congratulations to the winners as their research and hard work will result in important funds being used to assist these local charities.
The final meeting of HUGS is happening today at lunch in room 309.
