They will be available for pick up for graduates the week of August 29<sup>th</sup> in the main office. Continuing OSS students can pick up their yearbooks upon their return to school in September. We do acknowledge that not all students are included in the publication and that some graduate quotes were provided by the yearbook class and were not chosen by the individual student.<br></p>

Morning Announcements for Wednesday, June 22, 2022http://oss.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/801Morning Announcements for Wednesday, June 22, 2022<p>​Any boys rugby players interested in playing fall 7's rugby come to a meeting at the start of lunch today in room 125.  See Mr. Loney for details. <br></p><p>Today is the day that any junior or senior boys who wish to try out for the football teams next year can get an early start and pick up their equipment on Wednesday after school starting at 2:30. No experience is necessary.<br></p><p>Yesterday after school the sporting event of the year took place that saw the staff and student Ultimate Frisbee teams square off in a heated match. The student team came in as the big underdogs as the staff team was heavily favoured to win the game by a blowout. Well believe it or not, the student team did have a few tricks up their sleeve and lets just say the wind helped them immensely and the game ended in a 6-6 TIE! We will have to wait until next year's game to award bragging rights. Thank you to all the staff and students who came out to play and to watch, until next year! <br></p><p>For the past 5 years, all grade 10 Civics students at OSS have participated in the <strong>Youth Philanthropy Initiative </strong>project where they research local social service charities and create class presentations on them with the top selections eligible to have their charity receive a $5,000 grant. <strong>This year, the two winners that will split the grant are Cacia Laughlin for the Empower Simcoe Foundation and the group of Chris Hutton, </strong><strong>Jason Shearer, and Tessa Smith for the Green Haven Shelter for Women</strong>. Congratulations to the winners as their research and hard work will result in important funds being used to assist these local charities.<br></p><p>The final meeting of HUGS is happening today at lunch in room 309.<br></p><p> </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

No experience is necessary. Talk to coaches Box, Loney, or Kudar for more details.<br></p><p>Today is the day, the most anticipated sporting event of the year; the students vs staff ultimate frisbee game. The staff team has secretly be training for months and are ready to bring their "A" game is a display of awe and wonder. The team of mostly fit and athletic 25–30-year-old staff will be a tough match for these late teenagers.  So come on out today after school to the field to watch the game of your lifetime and watch the staff claim bragging rights until next year! <br></p><p>Attention Senior Stage Band members:  this is reminder of the Senior Stage Band rehearsal today at the beginning of lunch for those of you performing at Commencement.<br></p><p>Did you turn in community service hours into the guidance office on Friday last week!  Someone has submitted a form with no name on it.  If you dropped hours off on Friday, please come by the guidance office and speak to the secretary.<br></p><p>Today is National Indigenous Peoples' Day. Held on the summer solstice, National Indigenous People's Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences, histories and contributions of First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples. No experience is necessary. Talk to coaches Box, Loney, or Kudar for more details.<br></p><p>A reminder that next year student council applications were sent out to your school email last week. If you are interested in joining the team please fill out the form. All applications are due TOMORROW by the end of the day. <br></p><p>This is a reminder of the staff vs student Ultimate Frisbee game Tuesday afterschool at 2:30 pm. If you are able, come on out and cheer on the staff or the students team. We can tell you that the student team is going to need a lot of cheering and moral support as staff team scores point after point in what is to be the most lopsided game in the history of the sport. <br></p><p></p><p>Attention all graduating grade 12 students. If you have not purchased a graduation cap and gown please see Ms Brady in the library to arrange for purchase and pick up. The cost is 25 dollars and payment can be made by cash or by visiting school cash online.<br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

Send us photos at oss.sac on Instagram. </p><p>ATTENTION ALL GRADE 12s. Come down to the front foyer TODAY AT LUCNH for a special surprise. Also make sure you are wearing your post-secondary sweater so we can see where everyone is going next year and take some pics. That's TODAY AT LUNCH.<br></p><p>On behalf of the OSS Athletes and Coaches, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to Mr. Shami.  Mr. Shami has been our Athletic Director over the past several years and did an excellent job transitioning OSS back to sports after a two year hiatus.  Not only did he give up his time to coach Rugby and Nordic skiing, he worked tirelessly to ensure that all sports had busses, uniforms, referees, an opponent, and that everyone was having fun.  Last night's banquet was due to all of Mr, Shami's hard work and from us all we thank you.  We will miss you next year as you embark on your family adventure but we will be ready to show you how awesome the Nighthawks continue to be when you return.  <br></p><p>Attention future Link Crew leaders: </p><p>Are you interested in getting leadership training, meeting new friends, gaining volunteer experience, and helping to show our Grade 9's how awesome OSS is?</p><p>Applications for next year's Link Crew Leaders are now available in the Library. </p><p>We're looking for students from all pathways and backgrounds who are good role models and have a great attitude. You must currently be in Grade 10 or 11 to apply.</p><p>Pick up your application today and return it to the Library no later than Monday, June 20.<br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>

The 2022 Dance Recital "On With The Show" highlighted many dancers performing a variety of dance styles, solos, duets, small groups, and class ensembles, which entertained a full house. Happy summer and keep dancing! <br></p><p>Hey OSS! </p><p>To cap off an amazing 2022, the students for change team has fundraised a total of 1,852$ towards Red Cross for Ukraine, from the auction and treat drive. Thanks to all the staff and students who helped support! </p><p>If any students are interested in making a difference in our community, make sure to join the team in September! Anyone is welcome to join! <br></p><p>TOMORROW is career day. Dress in the career you want to have in the future. Grade 12s this is your chance to show everyone where you are going next year. This will be the sporting event of the year with each teams' athletic ability pretty much equal. There has been lots of banter back and fourth about who will be victorious....Team veteran Jack Dilawri was overheard saying "Those old slow moving staff don't stand a chance against us young elite ultimate players" and newcomer Julian White was quoted saying "I am going to leave those teachers eating my dust I can run so fast and jump so high." Ultimate Frisbee legend Mr. Kudar said "We are going to teach these youngsters a thing or two about flicks and hammer throws they will be running around with their jaws open in awe!" Mr Jackson who will be our game referee has said "I will be the most impartial referee you have ever seen, I won't favour the staff team at all...wink wink" So if you are able, come on out after school on the 21<sup>st</sup> to see the staff team win.....I mean to watch a great game of Ultimate!<br></p><p>HUGS is meeting today at lunch in room 309.
