Morning Announcements for March 22, 2018 Announcements for March 22, 2018 <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Aw-neen!  Most of you may have noticed that smudging often occurs in Room 217.  If you don't know what smudging is, it is meant to release negative energy, and fill the mind, body and spirit with positive energy.  It is a traditional practice of most First Nations across Canada.  We burn sage and use the smoke to cleanse our spirits; this occurs at least once everyday, and sometimes multiple times a day.  Anyone is welcome to participate in a smudge at any time.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Next week, we will be inviting everyone to participate in a smudge to start the day in a positive way.  Stay tuned for more information.  Meeg-wetch!</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Runners for Track:</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">The next workout is tomorrow at 2:35 PM.  </span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">If you couldn't be at Tuesday's practice, the door is still open to new recruits.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Again, dress prepared to do some outside running, a hat and thin gloves will help!</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span>Please note that the international club meeting for today has been CANCELED!!!!  We will meet again next Thursday.  Sorry for the inconvenience. Going on Vacation? on Vacation?<p>​If your student will be absent from school or on a vacation for a period of five days or more, please complete an Application for Temporary Absence from School form.  These forms are available in the main office and must be completed by the teachers, signed by a parent (if under 18) and returned to the main office to be signed by Administration.<br></p>
75th Anniversary of D-Day Anniversary of D-Day <p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Do you want to travel to Italy to walk in the footsteps of Canadian soldiers who fought at the Battle of Ortona, walk the streets of Paris exploring a new language and culture, or stand as a proud Canadian at Juno Beach for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.   OSS will be embarking on another European historical adventure in order to take part in this monumental milestone in our history.  Students will have the opportunity to travel to Rome, Ortona, Florence, Paris and the beaches of Normandy.  The 10 day trip will take place from May 29-June 7, 2019.  Please come to our information session on <strong>WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 6th at 7:00pm at the OSS LIBRARY</strong>.    For more information please contact Leanne Young at <a href=""></a></span></p><p><br></p>

We will be filling out event registration for Classics Conference.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Did you know that by reducing your thermostat by 2 degrees in the winter months can stop about 1000 lbs. of greenhouse gases from getting into the environment?  So put on a sweater and turn down the heat.  This Friday at OSS is “SWEATER DAY” we will be turning down the heat in the building by 2 degrees in celebration of Earth Hour.  Please wear a sweater to show your support for the earth….and so you don’t get cold.</p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Runners for Track - you will have your first workout of the season tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:35.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Some of the workout will involve outdoor running so remember to dress with outdoor gear that includes a hat and thin gloves.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Come join us for a run!!</span></p><p><span style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif;color:black;">Hey budding baseball players. We just found out that our OSS Senior Concert band received the Adjudicators' Award for the B 300 class for your performance last Friday. They decided you were the top band in that class at the festival. Your results are outstanding and it was a pleasure taking each and every one of you! The many, many rehearsals paid off with the adjudicators all extremely impressed with your performances. They remarked how incredibly easy it was to work with our groups and how responsive our students were to their suggestions.
